XCVII

Posted on May 6th, 2009 by A : Pale Horse Dancer A
These days, one must fly - but where to?
without wings, without an airplane, fly - without a doubt:
the footsteps have passed on, to no avail;
they didn't move the feet of the traveler along.

At every instant, one must fly - like
eagles, like houseflies, like days:
must conquer the rings of Saturn
and build new carillons there.

Shoes and pathways are no longer enough,
the earth is no use anymore to the wanderer:
the roots have already crossed through the night,

and you will appear on another planet,
stubbornly transient,
transformed in the end into poppies.

Enthronement

Posted on Apr 22nd, 2009 by A : Pale Horse Dancer A
One
Parents are very kind,
But I am too young to appreciate it.
The highland mountains and valleys are beautiful,
But having never seen the lowlands, I am stupid.

Two
Having striven for mind's nourishment,
Sharpening the spearhead of intellect,
I discovered permanent parents
Whom I can never forget.

Three
Having no one to influence my outlook,
I display my primordial nature
And adopt the style of a youthful prince.
This is due to the only father guru.

Four
I am busy working for others.
Prajna, penetrating all obstacles,
Has made the prince old and wise,
Fearing no one.

Five
Dancing in space,
Clad in clouds,
Eating the sun and holding the moon,
The stars are my retinue.

Six
The naked child is beautiful and dignified.
The red flower blooms in the sky.
It is ironic to see the formless dancer,
Dancing to the trumpet without a trumpeter.

Seven
At the palace of red ruby,
Listening to the utterance of the seed syllable,
It is joyful to watch the dance of illusion,
The seductive maidens of phenomena.

Eight
The warrior without a sword,
Riding on a rainbow,
Hears the limitless laughter of transcendent joy.
The poisonous snake becomes amrita.

Nine
Drinking fire, wearing water,
Holding the mace of the wind,
Breathing earth,
I am the lord of the three worlds.

Autobiography in Five Chapters

Posted on Apr 15th, 2009 by A : Pale Horse Dancer A
1) I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I fall in.
I am lost...I am hopeless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
2) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I'm in the same place.
But it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
3) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I see it is there.
I still fall in...it's a habit
My eyes are open
I know where I am
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
4) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I walk around it.
5) I walk down another street.

When you sit around dusk and watch the old trees reversed in the water like a mirror of now but like a memory at the same time.

Waiting For...

Posted on Apr 7th, 2009 by A : Pale Horse Dancer A
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 06, 2009:

One does not need anything before taking the "next big step" in life, aside from a pinch of brains and a dash of courage.
Waiting for others, waiting for nice weather, waiting for the perfect moment, waiting until you've got more money or more time or are finally pure: all of this is a waste of life, not any sort of preparation for life. We always wait around until things are better to live our lives. Things are never going to be "better". Do what you want and what you love before you miss it. It could be too late sooner than you think, and suddenly you'll berate yourself for not just living your dream despite still being a little busy or a little evil or whatever you think holds you back.
We plan our lives away.
No, you can not just magic up the time of your life. But what if you could? What crazy passion could you conjure to life?
Take that ridiculous idea, and start making it real now. Right now. Start thinking about how you make it real, and start doing it. Start starting. Grab your shit - or better yet, drop your shit - and start walking.
We never start. We always wait.

Time Capsule

Posted on Mar 14th, 2009 by A : Pale Horse Dancer A
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 11, 2009:

7 a.m.
So it begins again.
1-0 (zip):
Favoring familiar silhouettes.
Left whips and chains
Behind. I'm boycotting trends. It's
My new look this season.

Riding on backs
Of palominos,
Primed for an attack. It's as good,
As good as it gets
With girl disappearing.
What on earth's occuring?
'Cause she's right in front of me.
A girl disappearing
To some secret prison behind
Her eyes. She whispers,
"Big surprise. There was
No protection by
This urban light. So I'm
Running to
A constellation where I can still
See you."

Envy can spread
Herself so thinly. She slipped
In
Before I could notice it.
In my own war,
Blood in the cherry zone when
They
Pit woman against feminist.

Riding on backs
Of palominos,
Ditching the blond shell,
Working her hell
On that red carpet
With girl disappearing.
What on earth's occuring?
'Cause she's
Right in front of me:
A girl disappearing
To some secret prison but she's
Right in front of me:
A girl disappearing
To some secret prison
Behind her eyes. She whispers,
"Big surprise. There was
No protection by
This urban light. So I'm
Running to
A constellation where I
Can
Still
See you, and I'm running, too
If that's a consolation,
'Cause I
Can
Still
See you."

Saving The World

Posted on Mar 13th, 2009 by A : Pale Horse Dancer A
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 13, 2009:

I don't know that the world even needs saving. The planet will go through its natural cycle of destruction, creation, and continuation with or without much input from the human race. Certainly it's more mindful of one to not let the faucet run, to recycle as much as possible, and to simply give a little thought to the way one uses (and abuses) the planet. And I certainly hope that most of us make even an unremarkable effort to exist more harmoniously with the planet. Regardless, the planet will do what it must and what it always did. And the current human civilization will, at some point, cease to exist. Sooner? Or later? That depends on us.
We don't understand the intimate interwoven existence of our bodies, minds, emotions, and spirits. If you can't understand it in yourself first, you will never understand it on a larger scale. If we never understand it on a larger scale, we will never really panic about the state of the world - our human world - they way we ought to if we really wanted to make some shattering change. A mass shift is about the only hope we have left. A paradigm break-and-reset needs to take place on the level of the collective consciousness. I am not saying I have the answer to making that happen. I don't think it can be made to happen. I think we have to want it to happen, and I think we traded that away long ago. I can't make you get yours back.
